Amersfoort Dierenpark (Zoo)

Our zoo in Amersfoort is a "must see" for anyone visiting the area. It's only a short distance from the train station so access is easy. All of the zoos and animal parks in Holland are very involved with animal conservation and breeding. We are lucky to live close to one that is constantly expanding to keep the animals happy and give them more space.

Most of the photos on this and the next couple of pages were taken this year (2009). This page has a gallery of sites and animals within a section of the zoo which is designed to look like ancient Egypt. Not all of the animals are from Egypt but it is one of my favorite areas because this is where you find the big cats. In the Egyption section there is a building to enter and the big cats come right up to the windows for a snooze while you're only inches away.
