Knights Hall

Knight's Hall   Golden Knights

The Knights Hall, pictured above, still has it's original dimensions since it was part of the ruins that was still left. This room is entered from the Main Hall through a heavy carved wooden door with massive stone framing as it was in the early days. Here you see a Flemish wall sized tapestry from the early 16th Century and fabric covering the walls, golden knights mounted on horses (shown enlarged) adorning the chandeliers, crests of the knights, a grand piano from 1893, and more great works of art.

Today this room is used as the sitting room by the family who visits and stays in the castle every September, the only month when tours are not permitted.

Wood Carvings   Wall Sculpture

It is impossible on these few pages to adequately describe the beauty within this castle. Everywhere you look you are greeted by incredible wood carvings, statues, carpets, china, and marble. One of the photos above shows a carving set into the wall of the Great Dance Hall which depicts an elopement from the castle and subsequent marriage.
