Weather Report!

Well, it's near the end of June and it looks like summer is finally here. There hasn't been as much rain, and we see the sun pretty regularly. Everything is green! Sometimes in winter you think that the trees just won't come to life again and then all of a sudden it's there and you wish it would never go away.

Spring Travels

We spent a few weeks with my Daughters and their families in Michigan, USA, in May and what a great visit it was! Hein got to meet the rest of his family for the first time in person and they all loved him, as expected. It was wonderful being able to visit, but we were also glad to get back home. While we were there the weather turned bad and Michigan even had 22 tornadoes in one day - one only 5 miles from where we were.

Then when we got back to Holland, we were able to spend a little time with our friends, Ron and Brigid Barnes who have bought a boat on which tour parts of Europe by canal. A friend, Shirley, and I were asked to tour Utrecht on their boat and we had a terrific time. I've naturally added a new section to the site here:  ..

Update - 7/14/01..Having just learned of Brigid's death, I have added a memorial to her so that you could see a little about her through my eyes. Click **Here** to go directly to her memorial page.

Around Holland

Getting more and more used to my new surroundings and finding my way around. The more I learn about Holland, the better I like it. And it's so close to everywhere else in Europe that it is easy to go to fantastic vacation areas for just a few days. And we have many things close to where we live, castles, zoos, museums. Amersfoort seems to be quite a cultural center and there are always concerts, plays and attractions going on especially during the summer months.

Goat at Zoo

So look for more in months to come from Holland and Europe and check out our other site for information soon on the two magazines that we'll be publishing.

We've also added a message board for and about Holland. Come in any time you'd like and say a word or two. Or add a topic if you don't see something you'd like to comment on.
