Fall Weather

It's starting to get a little cooler but the daytime temperatures are still in the mid 60's during the day. Still haven't had a lot of rain in our section of the country. The trees are changing color and getting their golden and orange hues. Some parts of Europe have been reporting snow so that means winter isn't far away.

Travels

Early in October we took a trip to London, England. If you've never been there, it's worth the trip! Make sure you pack your walking shoes. We took about 200 photos and there will be a section added soon about what we saw there.

Windsor Castle

We went with a tour coach through Belgium and France; then on a ferry boat to Dover, England and on to London. Of the 4 days in London, we only stayed with the tour for the day to Windsor Castle, but the rest we saw on our own by foot. We had lovely weather, only a spattering of rain for about 10 minutes one day.

The photo you see above is at Windsor Castle and the one below is a sculpture that is part of the memorial for Edward designed by Queen Victoria.

Site Upgrade

Additions

A new section has been added for Traditions and Histories of the Netherlands. We have been asked to write articles for an on-line resource for American students attending a university here. The articles will deal with information about Holland so we have decided to include some of them in this site to go along with the above changes to the entire site.

The first of these articles is about Holland's Flower Traditions and you can find it by clicking on
Traditions or by going to the Contents Page or by using the flowers below.

To Traditions and Histories

If you feel that have anything interesting that you would like to contribute to the Traditions and History section, please feel free to e-mail us and you will receive full credit if we use your story. If you would like help writing the article, just ask and we will be happy to oblige.

Map of Sites

The map which was included with the last Newsletter has been updated to show Casteel de Haar. Holland is roughly about 120 - 130 miles wide and about 200 miles from North to South, so you can use this map to judge the approximate distances of the places that are included in this site.
