Utrecht by Boat

Here we have the Maartensbrug. Up on the left you can see the Town Hall, the Dom Toren (tower), the book store which we frequent on the right. There are lots of bikes parked on this bridge and it is a favorite spot for people to sit and have a snack during their lunch and look out over the canal. Also, notice the paddle boats for rent in the lower corner. We didn't see any of them cruising on the canal the day we were there, though.

Houses

Coming out of the tunnel under the bridge is like going into another world. More of the houses along the canal can be seen, a different type of shopping street and suddenly the edges of the canals come right up to the basements and warehouses with no walking room.

Below is a great shot of the picturesque houses with the Dom Tower behind.

The bridges along the canal are all different in some way and each of them were well worth taking a picture of, as you can see in the photos above. Now we are on our way back to the mooring area and an end to our cruise on the canal in Utrecht.

As you can see from the map here, we've traveled all around the city and seen sights in a whole new way. On the last page you will meet the friends who treated us to this fantastic day in Utrecht.

We are here
