The day of the wedding, Tuesday,
May 23, 2000. Annon, Scotland.3
It was raining - surprised?
Well, I hear (and chose to believe) that it's lucky to have rain
on your wedding day. And it's also great for having your hair done!
The flowers we had to pick up were happy, though.
Hein and his friend, Glynn,
were driving their car ahead of Eunice and me in order to get all
the paperwork together and so that Eunice and I would have a little
more time to get ready for the wedding. So Hein asked Eunice if
she could drive our car. No problem, right? Well, everything is
backwards in our car because we drive on the right here, and they
drive on the left. She seemed to manage OK, though, and I tried
not to think of those narrow roads when I saw her try to shift gears
on her door rather than between our seats! And once we were on the
freeway, she said "I don't have a clue how fast I'm going!"
Our car is set up for Kilometers per hour and in England it's Miles
per hour. The only help I could give her was that I knew that 60
kph is about 90 mph, and that I remembered from driving in Mexico.
We made it OK, though, with no traffic tickets! We even had time for
a sandwich and a cup of tea before we had to be at the Registrar's Office
in Annon, Scottland.

The wedding was as beautiful
as anyone would want. We were married in the Registrar's office
in Annon, Scotland by Mrs. Wallace. I was a little surprised that
the vows were similar to vows in the US, but I guess most things
originally came from over here. She did not rush through them which
was fortunate for us since both of us were somewhat choked up and
later she said that some of her hesitation was because she also
was getting teary-eyed watching the beauty of our sincerity and
commitment to each other.

This is Mrs. Wallace handing us our
Marriage Licence bearing all
of our signatures. Then a couple of photos were taken after the wedding
(below).
And the picture below
is the one I consider our Official Wedding photograph. It was taken
just outside the door of the Annan Registrar's Office as we were
leaving.
Another wedding in Gretna Green. Next
