mIRC - Feather and Vector Chikapoo Tutorial

On Saturday the 17th Eagle had a mIRC tutorial on which we manipulated feathers. The effects we used were:
"Auto Color Balance", "Plack Pencil", "Colorize", "Effect/Edge/Enhance", "Effects/Texture Effects/Fur", "Effects/Texture Effects/Polished Stone", "Layers/New Adjustment Layer/Color Balance" and "Effects/Reflection Effects/Pattern",

Below are some of the results I achieved by using the various effects.

Vector Feather Tutorial

We were also instructed on making a feather using vectors. The example below comes from Eagle's example of what this feather would look like before and after shaping with vectors. I submitted that it didn't look like a feather but rather like an upsidedown tear, which I recognize because of the many that I shed over working with vectors. I also said that it would be nice if the vector feather looked like it would keep a small creature in the air, and that her feather looked more like it might have come from an extinct Chikapoo bird and maybe that's why it was extinct.

Eagle thought I'd give up - HAH
But, I decided to try this vector stuff on my own tutorial of the extinct "Chikapoo", which I submit below. However, nobody believes me that it is in fact this is a true representation of the rarest of all birds.

Step One
Open new image 300 x 300 transparent. Set Foreground to black, background set to Pattern/Cracked Emerald or somethng else to your liking. Then click on Preset Shapes tool, Elipse shape, Antialias checked and Vector checked. Draw circle.

Step Two
Hold mouse over upper left corner at vector points and hold Ctrl key. You'll see the shape change and if you draw the mouse down you will create a pointy oval with the point pointing left.

Step Three
Draw another larger circle with the vector preset shape and move it toward the head. Then stretch the body the same way as the head using the upper right vector point.

Step Four
Change layer to a Raster layer and select the front point of the head with the Smart Edge Tool and fill the "beak" in with a bright yellow.

Step Five
Now you can add eyes and legs of your choice using preset shapes, line tools and your imagination.

Step Six      Feather
Using one of Eagle's feathers which she showed us how to do pretty things with in the mIRC class, you can decorate your Chikapoo to your heart's delight.
